THE CROSSFIT BURLINGAME TEAM
CEO and Founder
James started out on his fitness career in 2005 and was introduced to CrossFit shortly after. After training under some notable names in CrossFit, James decided it was time to grow his own CrossFit community. In 2011, CrossFit Burlingame opened its doors in a 1,800 square foot warehouse space and has since grown into a 7,800 square foot, cutting edge facility.
James obtained his bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology with the intent of going to grad school, but in finding a passion for fitness and CrossFit, he now uses his knowledge to help motivate his members and break down their personal barriers. He’s passionate about helping people look and feel better, have more energy, and enjoy life more. CrossFit Burlingame is his home and family — he treasures the relationships he’s developed over the years. He strives to bring as much love and understanding to coaching while balancing it with accountability and structure.
In James’ words: “I’ve aimed to grow CrossFit Burlingame beyond a center for fitness, to a home where people actually know one another and are able to receive much more than just a great workout. We truly are a big family that you have to experience to truly feel the power of and connection of. ”

Sean knew it would only be a matter of time before he became a CrossFit coach. He truly loves helping people and is always pushing himself to become better and evolve. In some ways, he wants to help others improve themselves and their lives more than he wants success for himself. But in looking back at what he’s been able to accomplish as a coach, he sees that he’s been successful since being on his CrossFit path.
In Sean’s words: “I love seeing my athletes get better and stronger every day they walk in the gym! I love building up their mental strength and watching their confidence rise!”
Frank is an amazing coach who spent his youth playing baseball, basketball, and soccer. The latter of which he continued at a collegiate level. As an adult, Frank switched over to CrossFit and never looked back. He was so enamored with it that he made training his profession. With a Level 1 certification under his belt, Frank uses his skills to help members take control of their health while gaining mobility and increasing their confidence.
Graeme is a CrossFit Coach with several years of training to his credit. As a child, he spent his free time playing soccer and football, which eventually led him to weightlifting. It built a solid foundation of principles he’d later use in CrossFit, a program he discovered in 2012. CrossFit reminds Graeme of his days as a team player because it’s intense, competitive, and most importantly, FUN!
Jeanely joined CrossFit Burlingame in 2017 after her weight loss transformation where she successfully lost 100lbs. She was on a journey to become a healthier and stronger version of herself and knew CrossFit would help her achieve that. With continued meal prepping and CrossFit, she was able to further lose an additional 33lbs. Knowing very well the struggles of weight loss, she is now on a mission to help others in their journey and advocates a healthy lifestyle, intelligent training with proper nutrition.
Her scientific background and analytical approach helped her understand how the food we eat plays a large role in the body’s biochemical function and apply a scientific approach to proper nutrition; understanding the body’s biochemistry in order to reach optimal health and wellness. Given her passion for health and fitness, it was a natural progression to become a coach to continue helping others achieve the results they truly desire.
“From fat to fit, I know what it’s like to give up, but I also know what’s capable of yourself when you don’t! Take it one day at a time and never give up.”
Coach Samantha Mar grew up participating in various sports, including 16+ years of karate. She got her black belt at age 17. She also played soccer at UC Merced and still plays whenever she can.
Samantha’s favorite part of being a coach is helping people push their limits and showing them that they can achieve things they once thought were impossible. “I want to help members grow and reach their personal goals,” she says.
CFBG is her home away from home. “The camaraderie that all the members bring to the gym is amazing, and the box becomes like a second family,” she says. “Everyone wants to push each other and see each other succeed in all the goals they are trying to accomplish.”
Ashley found the CrossFit Burlingame community in 2016 when she was looking for a change in her life. After a few years of being out of touch with her health and fitness, she was ready to return to herself and began her CrossFit journey. 60 Pounds and two years later she felt so inspired by how CrossFit helped her return to herself she decided to use that new fire to motivate and inspire others in their journey.
Ashley has her background in Psychology and works towards staying mindful of the connection between mind and body to promote healthy change within the athletes she coaches.
